Two suspected robbers, who attacked and robbed guests at their hotel rooms in Kumasi have been arrested and are being held by the police.

Suleman Iddrisu, alias “Babamu” and Abdul Abass, seized laptop computers, Samsung galaxy phones, wrist watches, modems, pen drives and cash totaling GH¢340.00 from the victims at gun point.

Their accomplices, named as Baba Arebey and Akwasi alias “Skate” are on the run and the police have mounted a search for them.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ampofo Duku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, told a press briefing that the victims, both auditors, were attacked in their separate hotel rooms at Ayigya.

The incident happened on Monday, September 15, at about 0300 hours.

The auditors have been contracted by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to undertake an assignment and they were sleeping when the pistol-wielding robbers broke into their rooms, hit them several times with the butt of their guns, forced them to lie down, rummaged their places and made off with their items and cash.

The alertness of a witness led to their arrest when they attempted to sell the stolen items.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the police have apprehended one Malik Jibril after a foiled robbery attack on a businessman.

ACP Duku said the suspect and his gang had booked hotel accommodation, where the businessman was staying but the police received a tip off and moved in to prevent them from carrying out their evil plan.

He said the suspect’s other accomplices managed to slip through, and that, a search on him uncovered a loaded French made pistol.
