The Ghana Police Service has arrested two people for illegally tampering with mobile phone devices sold on credit, following an intelligence-led operation in Wassa Akropong.
The suspects have been identified as Machiavelli Arthur and Gideon Ebenezer.
According to the Police, they are both phone repairers and were apprehended on 19th June 2025.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects used laptops and specialised software to unlock, bypass, and flash mobile phones that had been issued by a credit sales company.
Their actions allowed defaulting customers to continue using the devices without fulfilling payment obligations.
During interrogation, both suspects admitted to the offence. Police retrieved laptops and other electronic tools believed to have been used in the illegal operation.
The Police Service has pledged to continue to crack down on criminal activities that undermine lawful business practices and warned phone technicians and repairers against engaging in similar acts. Investigations are ongoing into the matter.
