Two arrested for assaulting a suspect leading to his death

The Police at Akwatia had arrested Kwaku Fianyo and George Abotsi, on suspicion that they assaulted a suspect leading to his death at Boadua near Akwatia in the Eastern Region.

The Regional Police Public Affairs Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Nketia Yeboah confirmed the story to GNA.

The Police PRO said on August 25, this year, the suspects arrested Isaac Amoah on suspicion that he stole personal effects of Richard Appiah at Boadua.

Chief Insp Yeboah said the two suspects brought Amoah to the Akwatia Police station and informed the security officers that Amoah stabbed Appiah in the course of the theft and Appiah was rushed to the St Dominic Hospital at Boadua

The Police PRO said later the same day, the Police noticed that Amoah was ill and when he was rushed to the St Dominic Hospital, he was pronounced dead soon on arrival.

He said the Police suspected that Amoah was beaten by a mob before he was brought to the police station.

Chief Insp. Yeaboah said the suspects were arrested after investigations by the police.
