Two armed robbers jailed 30 years

A Wa High Court presided over by Justice Kwesi Berkwie has convicted two armed robbers to 15 years imprisonment each for robbery at Sakalu close to Tumu in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region.

The suspects were arrested on October 8, 2017 after luck eluded them during their robbery operation.

They were cautioned and transferred to Wa, the regional capital, where Norbert Zongo and Salia Mohammed were tried and found guilty of the charges preferred against them, leading to their conviction.

According to Balu Mohammed of Tumu-based Radford Fm, the trial Judge after the conviction realized they were not first timers as they were reported to be involved in another incident pending before the court.

He said the Sissala East District Police Commander, ASP Stephen Abanga disclosed that Norbert Zongo and Salia Mohammed could be slapped with deterring sentences in the other matter pending before the court.
