Accra, Feb. 05, GNA – Two armed robbers were at dawn on Monday arrested at Dzorwulu, Accra after robbing a taxi driver of 625,000 cedis at gun-point.

The police gave their names as Kweku Ofosu Asamoah, 25 alias Desert Killer and Kwame Sarpong, 17, who claimed to be a student of Dadieso Agricultural Secondary School in Ashanti.

The Greater Accra Regional Crime Commander, Mr Bright Oduro, briefing newsmen at the Central Police Station, Accra said the two suspects hired a taxi at Dzorwulu at dawn on Monday.

He said they pulled a pistol on the driver, Mr Daniel Marteye Armah, 32 and robbed him of his money.

The robbers got down from the taxi and in their flight hired another taxi but Mr. Armah was able to see them through his driving mirror and he quickly drove through a shorter route and reported the incident to police men who had mounted a snap check point at Dzorwulu. The police said when the second taxi got to the barrier the robbers were arrested and the money retrieved from them. They will be sent to court on Tuesday.
