Agona Nkum (C/R), June 1, GNA – The chiefs of Agona Kkum and Agona Kwamang in the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area have appealed to the government to rehabilitate their roads.
Nana Nyarkoh Etuah III of Agona Nkum and Opaako Yeboah of Kwamang made the appeal when Mr Emmanuel Kweku Tetteh, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, paid a courtesy call on members of the Agona Nyakrom Tradition Council.
According to the chiefs, roads leading to their towns are in deplorable state which makes it difficult for the people to take their goods to the market.
Nana Etuah said in 2008 election, the people of Nkum voted for the National Democratic Congress, thinking their roads would be tarred but this had not happened and no development projects had been brought to the area. He appealed to the government to try as much as possible to tar the one-and-half-kilometre road.
Nana Etuah told the MCE and his entourage that 93no road construction no vote”.
Nana Opaako Yeboah of Kwamang said the road to his town was awarded on contract 12 years ago but has not been completed.
He said the deplorable state of the road had brought hardship to the people who are predominantly farmers, adding that they therefore could not send their farm produce to the market while buyers who managed to come there had taken advantage to buy their produce at low prices.
Mr Tetteh thanked them for their support and pledged to work hard to ensure that the Agona West got its fair share of the national cake. He said he had just taken office and he would study the contract documents of roads and forward them to the government.
