Twifo-Praso assembly falls short of revenue target

Twifo Praso (C/R), Nov. 10, GNA – The Twifo Heman Lower Denkyira District Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Agyeibi-Kessie, has appealed to staff of district assemblies to make knowledge acquired at workshops worthwhile by using it to improve the performance of assemblies. He made the call when he opened a day’s capacity building workshop for revenue collectors, assembly members, financial officers and staff of the assembly at Twifo-Praso.

It was organized in the framework of a development partnership between the assembly and the German Development Service (DED,) under the DED’s programme on good governance and decentralization. Mr Agyeibi-Kessie said the assembly has realized only 1.1 billion cedis of the 2.1 billion cedis it targeted to raise internally this year and reminded the participants that allocation from the common fund were based on how much each assembly generated locally.

The presiding member, Mr Emmanuel Agyeman, commended the DED for sponsoring the workshop and asked revenue collectors to treat taxpayers with courtesy and to strive to explain issues to them appropriately.
