Asamankese (E/R), July 13, GNA – A 20-year-old unemployed, Ernest Bosoka, has been fined four million cedis by the Asamankese Circuit Court for stealing a car radio-cassette recorder. The accused pleaded guilty and would go to prison for 18 months in hard labour if he defaults. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court that on June 25 Bokosa broke into an Isuzu pickup parked at Asamankese belonging to one Colonel Oppong Okyere.
Chief Inspector Idan said Col Okyere parked the vehicle opposite the District Education Office to check up something in the area at 2300 hours and on his return, detected that the driver’s side of the door had been forcibly opened and the radio-cassette recorder stolen. Col Okyere left to Accra and told relatives to search for the recorder.
On July 01, Okyere went back to Asamankese and received information that Bakosa was the one who stole the recorder and sold it to a barber. A complaint was made to the police and Bakosa was arrested. He admitted stealing the radio-cassette recorder and led the police to the barbering shop, where it was retrieved.
