Twenty-two injured as taxi runs into jubilant crowd

Ajumako (C/R), Dec. 31, GNA – Twenty-two people were injured when a taxi cab drove through a large crowd of supporters celebrating the victory of an Assemblyman at Ajumako on Tuesday.

The Ajumako District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police Seth Tay, told the GNA that 18 of the injured were treated and discharged at the Breman Asikuma Catholic Hospital whiles the rest are still on admission.

He said immediately after counting the ballot papers it was realised that Mr Robert Appiah had won the Ahenbrom electoral area. His supporters celebrated on the main street of the town And around 1930 hours a taxi without headlamps drove into the crowd. Mr Tay said the driver, Mr Kingsford Esuon, is helping the police in their investigations.
