Twelve lives lost on the Nakpanduri Scarp

Accra, Oct. 7, GNA – Eleven people died on the spot and another later when an old Albion cargo truck crashed on the Nakpanduri Scarp in the Northern Region on Thursday.

One of the six persons, who were injured, died as they were being taken to the Nalerigu Hospital in the vehicle of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bunkprugu-Yunyoo, Mr Joseph Yaani Labik. The MP told the GNA in a telephone interview that the passengers were sitting on goods that the right-hand-drive truck was hauling from the Bawku Market to Sakogu, a town on top of the Scarp.

He said he chanced upon the “horrifying spectacle” on Thursday evening and appealed to the National Ambulance Brigade to station some of their vehicles in the accident-prone area to save lives.
