Twelve Farmtrac Tractors four Volta districts

Ho, May 5, GNA – Four districts in the Volta Region are to receive 12 Farmtrac tractors from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) to improve agriculture. The districts include Krachi West, Nkwanta, North Tongu and Jasikan. They will each receive three tractors. The tractors, which cost 160 million cedis each minus overhead charges, are to be sold to individual farmers or groups to boost agriculture.

Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, at a short inspection ceremony prior to the handing over said the move by government was to boost private sector development. He said prospective buyers would only have to pay 50 per cent of the price and have the rest spread over three years. Mr Dzamesi noted that one of government’s development pillars was agriculture thus its commitment to improve the sector. He announced that the second batch of the same implements would soon come for other districts.
