Twellium Industrial Company Limited, the Ghanaian producer behind Verna Mineral Water, Rush Energy Drink and McBerry biscuits, has expanded its manufacturing network to Burkina Faso and Senegal while continuing to use Ghana as its home base.
The company was founded by Hussein Kesserwani and Hassan Kesserwani in 2013, with production beginning in 2014. It now has manufacturing facilities in the Accra area and Kumasi, and exports to a number of other West African markets.
Twellium’s operations have grown beyond bottled water and soft drinks to include biscuits, wafers, cookies and cakes. Its manufacturing footprint currently covers sites in Ghana, Burkina Faso and Senegal.
At its Kumasi facility in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, Twellium produces beverages using two PET packaging lines installed by equipment supplier Sidel. The project, detailed by Sidel in October 2024, includes one line for water and another for carbonated soft drinks.
The installation includes bottle blowing, filling and capping equipment, as well as water treatment and automated cleaning systems. Sidel said the water line is capable of producing 80,000 bottles per hour, while the carbonated soft-drink line can produce 65,000 bottles per hour. Those figures refer to the capacity of the individual lines rather than Twellium’s total production.
The company’s Burkina Faso factory is located at Samagan, near Bobo-Dioulasso. As well as making beverages, the site produces bottle preforms, caps and carbon dioxide. It also contains laboratory testing facilities and systems for treating wastewater.
In Senegal, Twellium operates from Sindia in the Thies region. The company describes the site as an extension of its earlier export activity in the country, combining local manufacturing with distribution and commercial partnerships.
Its beverage portfolio includes Verna Mineral Water, Rush Energy Drink, Bigoo, Planet, American Cola and Bubble Up. The range covers bottled water, energy drinks and carbonated soft drinks.
Twellium entered the confectionery market with McBerry in 2019. The brand includes biscuits, wafers, cookies and cakes. Its Dairy One range consists of Choco Milk Drink, Soy Milk Drink and Choco Soy Milk Drink.
The company exports products from Ghana beyond the countries where it has manufacturing facilities. The Ghana Export Promotion Authority lists Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali and Cote d’Ivoire among its destinations, alongside other West African markets. Its exporter profile identifies mineral water, soft drinks and energy drinks as Twellium’s export products.
In October 2020, SGS presented ISO and HACCP certifications to Twellium, according to the Ghanaian Times. The newspaper also reported on an effluent treatment plant designed to process wastewater before its release into the environment.
Twellium has also established the Twellium Foundation, which supports disadvantaged groups through education, youth skills development and assistance for rural women. Projects are listed under the foundation’s Verna Changing Lives banner.
At the 2026 Ghana Manufacturing Awards, Twellium received three honours: Most Innovative Company of the Decade, Water Producing Company of the Year and Confectionery Producing Company of the Year. Organiser Xodus Communications listed the awards among the event’s highlights.
