Tullow inculcates healthy lifestyles in the youth

Tullow Oil Ghana Limited, as part of its social responsibility, has initiated measures to inculcate in the youth the essence of a healthy lifestyle through health checks and walks.

Mr. Dai Jones, President and General Manager of Tullow Oil Ghana Limited, announced this at a day’s health walk organized by the company from Ayi Mensah near Abokobi to the Aburi Botanical Gardens on Thursday.

The walk attracted the participation of students from three second cycle institutions – St Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Labone Secondary School and Accra Girls Senior High School. Some Keep-Fit clubs also participated.

Mr Jones said, “We are trying to bring the youth on board, hence, the presence of the students. We also want to bring them along and inculcate in them the essence of healthy lifestyles and regular exercise.

“Apart from the health walk, we do health check-ups and other health programmes at the work place. This is the only health walk we embark on outside the work place,” Mr Jones indicated.

The annual health walk and health check have become a permanent feature on the company’s calendar, which allows top management and staff to leave their tight business desks for the exercise.
