TUC salutes new Deputy Commissioner of EC

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) of Ghana has congratulated and extended best wishes to Miss Georgina Opoku Amankwa for assuming a new office as the Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission (EC).

A statement signed by Mr Kofi Asamoah, General Secretary of TUC, copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, said Miss Amankwa was a seasoned trade unionist, who held several positions in the movement in the country prior to her new appointment.

“She distinguished herself as a trade unionist right from the onset when she became a member of the Public Services Workers Union of TUC by virtue of her employment with the National Commission for Civic Education, and she stood out with her great services in the varied positions,” it said.

The statement said the TUC has no doubt that Miss Amankwa’s un-daunting spirit would carry her through the national assignment, and she would serve diligently.

“Having already mastered the art of challenging prevailing status quo and standing up against the odds, TUC firmly believes that Georgina will rise to the occasion and shine even amidst her toughest opposition from her new work environment,” it said.
