Tsatsu stooped so low in his attack on SC Judge – Peace Council Chair

The Chairman of the Peace Council has expressed disappointment in ace lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata for making comments said to be unsavory against one of the nine panel of judges who sat on the presidential election petition.

Most Rev. Emmanuel Asante said Tsikata “stooped so low” in his accusation of Justice Annin-Yeboah.

The NDC lead lawyer, in a TV interview programme, singled out Justice Annin-Yeboah for criticism and accused him of bias.

He said the learned judge was consistent in his ruling against the respondents in the landmark case challenging the 2012 General elections because he felt a certain level of responsibility and allegiance to ex-President John Kufuor who appointed him to the position of the Supreme Court.

Tsatsu Tsikata has been taken to the cleaners for his criticism. He has not suffered this criticism alone. The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, and a member of the NPP, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko who also labelled the election petition judgement by the judges as corrupt, has also received his fair share of criticism.

Commenting on the issue, Rev. Emmanuel Asante said the comments by the two lawyers were unfortunate.

He said he did not expect such utterances from the lawyers, who are supposed to know better and to jealously guard the independence and sanctity of the judiciary.

He said the comments from the lawyers are likely to open the flood gates for similar comments, which will not inure to the benefit of the country.

Rev Antwi called on all political leaders to “cease fire” and use the rule of law, not invectives to solve their grievances.
