Trinidad and Tobago HC calls on Minister

Accra, March 31, GNA – Mrs Victoria Mendez-Charles, the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to Ghana, on Tuesday called on the Minister of Energy, Dr Joe Oteng Adjei at his office in Accra to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries and identify opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector.

The High Commissioner, who is based in Nigeria, said the call was also to express Trinidad and Tobago’s commitment to executing the existing energy sector agreements between the two countries. She said Trinidad and Tobago was interested in pushing for technical cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit. Mrs Mendez-Charles called for skills-based training for graduates in Ghana to ensure that they benefited from the industry adding that her country was prepared to provide the training.

Dr Oteng Adjei reiterated government’s commitment to train young graduates on oil and its related issues to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the sector. He said government’s objective was to ensure that more local people got involved in the oil sector to enable them to benefit from it.
