Tribunal Sentence Four fined 50,000 cedis each for defecating

Accra, Sept. 17, GNA – An Accra Community Tribunal on Friday, Sept 9 sentenced four persons to a fine of 50,000 cedis or in default serve a prison term of one month each for indiscriminately defecating around La in Accra.

They are Nii Amoah Pascal, 45, a carpenter, Godfried Sowah, 28, unemployed, Hayford Klutse, 32, labourer, and James K. Glover, 50, a mason. The accused persons pleaded not guilty to defecating in an unauthorised place.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Nana Tawiah of the Metro Guards Unit told the tribunal, chaired by Mr Kwadwo Owusu, that at about 5.30 a.m. on September 10, this year, a combined team of Metro Guards, the police and military, spotted Pascal, Sowah, Klutse and Glover defecating at the La-Wireless area. They were arrested and subsequently charged with the offence.
