Accra, July 12, GNA – A trader was on Tuesday brought before a Greater Accra Regional Tribunal for possessing narcotic drugs. The plea of Emmanuel Blay was not taken and the court presided over by Mr Justice Frank Manu remanded him in prison custody for two weeks. The facts of the case as narrated by the Prosecution are that in the evening of July 1, Blay, a trader at the Kaneshie Market, went to the Kaneshie Police Station to visit a relative in custody.
The Prosecution said the Police Officer on duty told the accused person to come back the following morning since visiting hours were over.
The Prosecution stated further that a paper, which the accused person threw on the floor before he left the station, contained three wrappers of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Policemen at the scene consequently gave the accused person a hot chase and arrested him.
