Tribunal Fines Careless Driver

Techiman (Brong Ahafo Region) 21 May, ’98 The Techiman Circuit Tribunal has fined a 32 year old driver, Kwame Amo, 75,000 cedis for careless driving and causing harm to Madam Joyce Ampofo, a passenger. Amo who pleaded guilty would go to prison for three months in default. Police inspector Mary Asunta told the tribunal presided over by Mr Justice Nicholas Abodakpi that on March 30, this year, the accused drove his peugeot caravan into a stationary bus on the Techiman-Akumadam road during a rainfall, resulting in Rose being rushed to the Techiman Holy Family hospital with severe injuries. Mr Justice Abodakpi, passing sentence emphasised the need for policemen of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit to educate drivers not to park their faulty vehicles at dangerous points along the road. gri
