Kumasi, Sept. 9, GNA- The Treviglo Hospital in Italy, has donated medical equipment to the Diabetes Clinic of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KARH) in Kumasi.
The equipment that worth 40,000 Euros included glucometers, clinic beds, Ketinographer, Sphigmamometer, screens and weighing equipment. The assistance that was solicited from donors by Pas Mondo, a non-governmental organization (NGO), in Nigeria, was to help facilitate detection of diabetes and its management. Dr. Vincenzo Ciamponi, Director of Administration at the Treviglo Hospital, presented the equipment to KATH in Kumasi on Monday. He said Treviglo Hospital had initiated two projects for the Diabetes Clinic and Cervical Cancer Clinic of the KATH. Mr. Abraham Dwumah Odoom, Deputy Minister for Health, said the Government was committed to ensuring good health care for the people. Dr. Agyenim Boateng, Physician Specialist in Charge of Diabetes at KATH, said by the year 2030, about 3000 million people in developing countries including Ghana would be affected by diabetes. Mr. Offe Gyimah, Director of Administration at KATH, received the equipment on behalf of the hospital and commended Treviglo Hospital and Pas Mondo for the assistance.
