Lome, Feb. 15, GNA – Travellers from Ghana to Togo are finding it difficult crossing the Aflao border as customs and other security officials are closely scrutinising their travelling documents. Travellers who do not possess valid travel documents were often denied entry to the neighbouring state where tension is mounting following the appointment of Faure Eyadema as the new Head of State to succeed his late father Gnassingbe Eyadema, who died two weeks ago. The Togolese officials have moved their entry point further to prevent people from entering the country through unapproved routes. Security is also stepped up in Lome, the national capital, as street protest continues against the government.
Heavily armed personnel are seen on mobile and foot patrols while some have taken up positions at vantage points.
On Sunday night angry protestors burnt lorry tyres and barricaded roads leading to Adzorlolo Pharmacy Junction at Nyekonakpoe, a suburb of Lome.
