Accra, July 31, GNA-Mr Ben Amoabeng-Peprah, Chairman of the Greater-Accra Regional branch of the Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA), has underscored the need for the various transport organisations in the country to live in peace with one another. This, he said, would not only help improve the transport industry, but also generate enough revenue for national development. Mr. Amoabeng-Peprah made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
He advised members of PROTOA to guard against affiliation and membership with other transport associations, since that was in contravention with the constitution of the association. “The constitution of PROTOA disallows any member or branch to have anything to do in the form of affiliation and membership with other transport unions.”
The Regional Chairman, therefore, warned that any member or branch caught flirting with other transport organisations “will jointly and severally be subjected to every available sanction as spelt out in the constitution of PROTOA.”
Turning to members who also held key positions in other transport organisations, Mr Amoabeng-Peprah pointed out that such action, not only constituted a gross violation of PROTOA’s constitution, but was also detrimental to the operations of the association. The association, he said, would therefore exercise its discretion in such an unfortunate situation, by terminating the membership of those officers.
The Regional Chairman urged members to do away with negative tendencies and remain united, so that in a collective manner, they could champion the cause of the association in order to achieve set goals.
