Transition: NPP entitled to reject lunch – Hanna Tetteh

The New Patriotic Party’s side of the transition is free to reject snacks and lunch provided by the Office of the President, the spokesperson for government’s Transition Team, Hanna Tetteh, has said.

According to her, “From the beginning of the Transition process, provision for snacks & lunch were made by the Office of the President and were available only for members of the Transition Team working from the Accra International Conference Centre. If the incoming administration has taken the position that they do not want to have such provision made any longer, that is entirely their prerogative.”

The Foreign Affairs Minister’s comments on her Facebook wall on Friday December 30 was in response to a statement indicating that the incoming government’s Transition Team had rejected perks associated with the job.

The spokesperson for the transition team of the incoming government, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, had said on Thursday, December 29 that they had rejected the perks, adding that it was part of the incoming Akufo-Addo government’s austere measures to rescue the failing economy.

Ms Tetteh continued: “No sitting allowances have been paid to any member of the Transition Team (both for the current and incoming administration)”.

She also assured the public that the team would continue to work for a smooth transition of political power from one administration to the next.
