Trainees asked to put new knowledge into practice

Mamponteng (Ash), Sept 12, GNA- Dr Krobea Asante, the Presiding Member of the Kwabre District Assembly, has called on beneficiaries of employable skills training schemes to put what they learn into effective use.

This, he said, will not only enable them to improve on their standard of living but will also bring into value the resource spent on them.

Dr Asante said this at a ceremony at which certificates were presented 40 youngsters who participated in a five-day employable skills training programme in tie and dye and batik making.

The workshop, which was organised by the Centre for Natural Birth Control (CENBIC), an NGO, with support from the Ghana AIDS Commission, formed part of the NGO’s strategy to curb HIV infection among the youth. He commended the NGO for initiating the programme and expressed the hope that it will be extended to cover many unskilled and unemployed youth in the district.

Dr Asante said the district assembly will recommend the trainees to the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs for support to enable them to start small-scale businesses.
