Trainee nurse nabbed in GHC80k fraud

A second year Health assistant trainee of the Kpembi Nurses and Midwifery school in the Northern region has been arrested.

Latifa, as she is known, has allegedly defrauded forty of her colleagues in excess of GHC80,000.

She is accused of issuing fake bank receipts to her colleagues under the guise of assisting them to pay their fees.

Many of her victims have been prevented from taking part in the school’s ongoing semester exams.

According to a local reporter, Tanko, who has been following the development, each of the students gave their tuition fees of GHC1,500 and other auxiliary payments to the suspect to pay on their behalf due to the distance between the school and the nearest commercial bank.

The suspect, according to Tanko, however failed to make the payments but instead issued fake bank receipts to them and pocketed the money.

The Salaga Police are investigating the matter.
