Train hits truck at Spintex

Hundreds of commuters aboard an Accra-Tema bound train were left stunned as the train got involved in an accident around Baatsona, Spintex.

The train hit a KIA pickup truck with registration number GR 5908Z . The truck which was unloading sand close to the railway was hit at about ten minutes to Seven on Monday, May 22, 2017.

The driver in his defence said he did not see the oncoming train but was busy unloading sand off his truck when it was hit by the train.

“It is not my fault, I was just unloading my sand and I didn’t know I parked close to the railway”, he insisted.

“He will have to pay for the damage caused to the train”, an angry train official said as he removed the driver’s licence plate. “They (drivers) should know better before they park close to the railway, but they would not listen , then an accident occurs and they blame the train drivers”, he added.

A commuter, John Yeboah, said “Until people stop living close to the rail line, accidents like this are bound to happen”. There were no casualties.
