Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) July 19, GNA – Osagyefo Oseadeayo Agyemang Badu II, Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional area has expressed concern about the ascending rate of child birth in the country.
This, he said, had contributed to the alarming proportion of streetism and the act of immorality particularly among the youth. Osagyefo Oseadeayo Agyemang Badu raised the concern when he interacted with Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister and Nana Abraham Kwadwo Kwakye his Deputy at his palace on Tuesday as part of their familiarization tour of the region.
The Omanhene emphasised the need for parents to plan how to raise their families so that they could provide their children with the basic necessities in their upbringing.
He noted with regret that some parents particularly those yoked by poverty do not think about how to cater for their children but rather increased their birth rate and later neglect them to face the challenges of life.
Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu reiterated concern about the rate of unemployment among the youth and appealed to the Regional Minister to use his political authority to help job creation in the region.
He noted that the various districts were endowed with vast landscape and abundant natural resources, which could be exploited, to help developed the region while alleviating the plight of the people. Mr. Baffour-Awuah expressed concern about perennial chieftaincy disputes, which had now risen to 55 cases and appealed to the regional House of Chiefs to help solve them amicably.
He advised traditional rulers to unite to ensure the growth and development of their various communities.
Mr. Baffour-Awuah later visited Nkrankwanta and Berekum and interacted with the chiefs and people of the areas on problems facing them.
