Traditional ruler calls for modification of outmoded culture

Offinso (Ash), July 3, GNA- Nana Osei Sarpong-Kumankuma, chief of Mpehi in the Offinso District, has advocated the modification of outmoded cultural values to enable the youth to appreciate the nation’s cultural heritage. He asked traditional rulers to reform and protect “our cultural heritage in the face of technological advancement and globalisation”.

Nana Sarpong-Kumankuma was addressing members of Web Action Youth Organisation (WAYO), a non-governmental organisation, after they had undertaken a three-hour clean-up exercise at the Saint Patrick’s Hospital at Offinso-Maase on Saturday. The organisation, whose members are made up of teachers, students and health workers, also mounted a platform to sensitise the youth on tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and malaria. Madam Angelina Aabalekuu, a Senior Nursing Officer at the hospital, commended WAYO for embarking on the exercise.
