Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association commends Minister

Accra, Sept. 24, GNA – The Ghana Federation of Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association (GHAFTRAM), has expressed gratitude to the Minister of Health, Major Courage Quarshigah, for facilitating the sponsorship of four of its members to undertake a weeks’ working visit to India.

A statement issued in Accra on Sunday and signed by Agya Kwaku Appiah, GHAFTRAM President, said the visit afforded the members the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the Indian experience of traditional and alternative medicine practice.

It said in GHAFTRAM’s view the four-man delegation that undertook the trip to India was the highest number in recent history, adding that seminars and workshops would soon be organized to impart ideas gathered in that country for the benefit of the association’s entire members. The statement said a new membership card of GHAFTRAM that lends support to Ghana’s health policy would soon be launched.

“It is the Association’s expectation that members will be good agents in supporting the National Health Insurance Scheme”, the statement said.

“It is also the expectation of GHAFTRAM that the new wave of dynamism and support that traditional medicine is enjoying currently will be sustained to shape the practice of traditional medicine towards total health delivery for all”, it added.
