Traditional Council regulates performance of funerals

Tepa (Ash), Aug 23, GNA – The Tepa Traditional Council in the Ahafo-Ano North district has instituted a monthly performance of funerals in the area instead of the weekly performance as obtains now. The measure, according to the traditional council, is to save bereaved families, citizens living outside the area and the public from the weekly travels from their places of abode. Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem, Omanhene of Tepa Traditional Area, said this on Sunday to introduce a seven-member committee that will be responsible for funerals in the area.

He said under the new arrangement funerals would be held on the last Saturday of every month. Bereaved families will contribute 100,000 cedis per funeral for the development of the area and two bottles of schnapps to the traditional council. Nana Atwenewaa Ampem said the council took the decision in the best interest of the people, citizens of the area staying outside the district and the public.
