Traditional Council appeals for rehabilitation of trunk road

Goaso (B/A) July 25, GNA – The Goaso Traditional Council in Asunafo North has appealed to the government for the rehabilitation of the Bechem-Tepa junction-Goaso trunk road.

Making the appeal through the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, who was on a familiarisation visit to the area, the Krontihene of the Council, Nana Abiri Kotoko, said most drivers plying the road had withdrawn their services, worsening the situation as torrential rains had also rendered the road impassable.

“The asphalting of the road will immensely facilitate the evacuation of goods and services locked up in the hinterland”, he said. In another development a branch of Mighty Transport Union has been inaugurated at Goaso.

The union aims at organising and coordinating the activities of members to ensure maximum satisfaction of drivers and travellers. Mr. Eric Anto, chairman of the Asunafo union appealed to drivers to make the safety of the passengers their priority.

He said with the formation of the union, the ‘Waa-Waa’ vehicles would be integrated into the main transport system to ensure the survival of the union.

Mr. Anto called on drivers to be part of the union to ensure unity and harmony among them for sanity to prevail in the transport industry.
