Accra, June 2, GNA – Positive Traders Association of Ghana, an association of traders who have been sacked from the streets in Accra, on Thursday called on the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to reconsider its decision to allocate the space behind Ghana Commercial Bank at Circle to them since the space there was too small to contain them.
A statement signed by Mr Adu-Boahen, Vice Chairman of the Association, said the space could accommodate less than 30 per cent of the hawkers and traders.
The Association, therefore, appealed to the Assembly to add the Tudu Park, Art Centre, Former Ambassador Hotel and the Old Fadama road. The statement said the recent People’s Assembly held in Accra gave the hawkers and street traders’ assurance that they would be relocated at the PWD grounds but Mr Agyiri Blankson, Mayor of Accra had told them that the PWD grounds could not be released to them. 02 June 05
