Traders appear before court for fraud

Nkawie (Ash), Oct 15, GNA – The Nkawie circuit court has granted two traders 16 million cedis bail for defrauding a farmer. Efua Kate, 30, and her mother, Aba Asante, 50, pleaded not guilty to the charge and will re-appear on November 8.

Police Chief Inspector Archibald K. Fando told the court that the two traders approached Madam Akyaa at Akropong and said they would buy her 20 bags of maize valued at 7.3 million cedis. He said after buying the maize, the two traders failed to pay and went away.

Chief Inspector Fando said the complainant did not see the traders again until October 6, 2004 when she saw them at Suame, a suburb of Kumasi and caused their arrest.
