Trader remanded over illegal ammunition

A trader caught with large quantity of illegal ammunition has been remanded into prison custody by a Sunyani Circuit Court.

SoobinKolan was transporting boxes of ‘AAA’ cartridges from Kumasi to the Northern Region, when these were found by the police on the Kintampo-Tamale highway.

He is facing charges of unlawful possession of ammunition and transporting ammunition without authority and pleaded not guilty.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the accused was ordered to make another appearance today (Monday, May 30)

The ammunition had been concealed on a mini-bus and was intercepted by the police following a tip off.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and he mentioned Kolan as the owner but he could not produce any legal document covering the cartridges.
