Trader remanded in custody for robbery

A 29 year-old trader who allegedly conspired with two others to steal household items together with cash worth GHC6,050.00, has been remanded in prison custody by the Kumasi Circuit Court.

The accused Kelvin Agyei Frimpong, who also sexually assaulted the complainant and her 14-year-old daughter, denied the offence and would reappear on June 16.

Madam Tasiame who presided over the Court heard that August 11, 2014, the accused and the two accomplices now at large, raided the complainant’s house at Gyinyase and stole the items and the cash.

The items included two mobile phones, two wrist watches, a wedding ring, a shirt, an ignition key to a Toyota 4X4 car, a cash of GH?1,600.00 and a wallet containing an unspecified amount.

Prosecution told the Court that this happened 0300 hours when the complainant was asleep with her daughter and the accused together with his accomplices, all armed with locally-manufactured pistols, broke into their house, attacked and ordered them to strip naked after which the accused inserted his fingers in their private part.

On November 3, 2014, the complainant spotted the accused at Amakom and alerted the police for his arrest.
