The Winneba Magistrate Court has sentenced Dorothy Amoah, a 25-year-old trader, to six months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing goods worth about GH?200.00.
She pleaded guilty.
Police Sergeant Peter Agbelie, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Charles Owusu Nssiah that the complainants in the case were Miss Aba Takyiwah Ephraim, student of Pan Africa University and Mr Edwina Fyinn Walker, head teacher of Effutu Gyahadze Primary School.
He said on May 11, Miss Ephraim travelled by the Metro Mass bus from Accra to Winneba. The prosecution said on reaching the Winneba Junction, Amoah, who was on the same bus, alighted and removed baggage belonging to Miss Ephraim from the luggage portion of the bus.
Sgt Agbelie said on June 20, Madam Amoah again stole a bale containing sixty T-shirts belonging to Mr Walker from the luggage section of an Accra-Winneba bound Metro Mass bus.
The prosecution said both complainants reported the theft of their goods to the Winneba Police for investigations. He said on 28th June, 2013 the accused was arrested in Winneba on a similar offence. The two complainants on hearing the news of the arrest went to the police station and identified the accused as the person who stole their goods.
