Trader jailed for rape

Tarkwa (Western Region) 30 Nov. ’98 A Tarkwa circuit court presided over by Mr Isaac Lartey-Young, has sentenced Kwabena Banfo, a 35-year-old trader to three years’ imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 13-year old school girl. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Lydia Vondee, said on November 21, this year, at 19:30 hours the victim was sent to buy Milo at Brenuakyim, a suburb of Tarkwa. She said Kwabena Banfo, lured the victim into an uncompleted building and forcibly had sex with her and warned her not to tell anyone. The victim, however, came out of the building crying and when she was questioned, reported the matter. Kwabena Banfo pleaded not guilty.
