Trader convicted for failing to obtain medical certificate for selling

Assin Fosu, (C/R) July 29, GNA – An Assin Fosu District Magistrate’s Court has sentenced Afia Babu, an Assin Fosu petty trader, to a fine of GH¢30.00 for failing to obtain a medical certificate of fitness before selling to the public.

The convict, who pleaded guilty, will go to prison for one month in default.

The magistrate, Mr Joseph Blay, ordered that the fine be paid into the account of the Assin North District Assembly.

Prosecuting, Mr David Kobena Amoah, the District Environmental officer, told the court that environmental officers on routine inspection on May 20, arrested the trader for failing to produce medical certificate of fitness.

In another development, Kofi Awua, who dumped rubbish at an unauthorized place and left his premises with stagnant water, infested with mosquito larva, was fined GH¢30.00 by the court.

The convict will go to prison for one month in default.
