Nkawie (Ash), Oct. 23, GNA- The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Presidential Special Initiatives (PSI) has released 865 million cedis to the Atwima District Assembly towards the establishment of its rural industries.

The selected industries are ginger production and processing, cassava chips production and chicken feed production. Mr Charles Yeboah, Atwima District Chief Executive, who announced this, said the establishment of the rural industries was to stem the migration of the rural youth.

He was speaking at a workshop on rural enterprise development programme organised by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Presidential Special Initiatives in collaboration with the Atwima district assembly at Nkawie on Wednesday.

Mr Yeboah said the establishment of the rural industries was also part of government’s policy of reducing poverty at the grassroots through the creation of wealth and employment.

Mr Oppong Kyekyeku, Ashanti Regional Officer of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Presidential Special Initiatives, said that the Rural Enterprise Development Programme should be led by the private sector.
