T’Poly TESCON executives inaugurated

Takoradi, May.19, GNA- Papa Owusu Ankomah, Minister of Education, Science and Sports, on Saturday asked members of the Takoradi Polytechnic Chapter of Tertiary Education Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON), to re-affirm their beliefs in the founding ideals of the party.

He was speaking at the inauguration new executives of TESCON at Takoradi Polytechnic.

Papa Ankomah who is the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, said the NPP could take credit for entrenching freedom of speech for Ghanaians as well as the freedom to think, which had enabled most people to express themselves on all matters affecting their personal and public lives. He said the NPP is a party of change because of the soundness of its guiding principles, its belief in open debate and the contribution of all members of the party, be they young or old. Papa Ankomah said although the government has made great strides in rebuilding the country’s shattered infrastructure, Ghanaians deserve a better life for all its citizens and not just the privileged. He said the task of embedding democracy in the country is not over and that there are more and better opportunities ahead to improve governance.

Mrs Gladys Asmah, Minister of Fisheries and Member of Parliament for Takoradi, said the main concern of the NPP is the development of the country.

She urged members of TESCON to be prepared to help ensure that polling stations are well managed during the 2008 elections. The new executives have Mr Dominic Kwesi Eduah as the President with Mr. Michael Buabeng as his vice. Mr. Kwame Anim Ampomah is the organiser, Mr. Paul Kofi Adu Parko, assistant organiser, Miss Regina Twum, secretary, Miss Belinda Nyarko, women’s commission, Mr. Kenneth Quansah, Public Relations Officer and Mr. David Bosomtwi Acquah, assistant public relations officer. 19 May 07
