TPF holds Anas Aremeyaw Anas Investigative Journalist Award on Saturday

Kumasi-based media not for profit organisation, “The Press Foundation”, TPF, as part of plans to encourage investigative journalism will on Saturday, 22nd October, 2016 hold the maiden “Anas Aremeyaw Anas Investigative Journalist Award”.

The unique award is to honor the remarkable investigative works by ace Ghanaian investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. It’s also intended to encourage journalists to delve more into investigative journalism, Listowell Yesu Bukarson, Executive Director of The Press Foundation explained in a statement.

Winner of the award, which is scheduled for the Golden Tulip, Kumasi City Hotel on Saturday, 22nd October at 7pm will visit some media institutions in Germany and the USA to interact with investigative journalists in those countries.

The event forms part of the “TPF National Media Festival 2016”. There would be a media peace walk through the principal streets of Kumasi involving about 3000 participants drawn from schools, media institutions, musicians, actors and actresses, keep fit clubs and the general public. There will also be media lectures on the night preceding the awards.

It’s under the theme; “Election 2016: The Role of the Journalist”. Speakers include, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, host of Joy TV/FM’s Newsfile, Samson Lardy Anyenini, investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, former Citi FM Eye Witness anchor, Shamima Muslim, Peace Ambassador, Irbad Ibrahim and the GOC of the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier General CB Alhassan.

Persons to be honoured on the night include former President Kufour for his role in the repeal of the criminal libel law and former Ashanti Regional Minister, Eric Opoku for his effort towards the construction of the media centre in Kumasi. The event is sponsored by The Royal Bank and Best Assurance.
