Tourist Board Asked To Concentrate On Organized Tours

Ada-Foah (G/A) Ghana can increase her earnings from tourism if the Ministry and the Tourist Board concentrate on organized tours, particularly from Europe, Mr. Frank Thummler, Proprietor of Paradise Beach Hotel at Ada-Foah. He said the climate, socio-economic atmosphere and security in the country are enough to attract a lot of tourists from Europe through honest and vigorous advertising programmes. Mr. Thummler was speaking to the GNA in an interview when the wives of delegates attending the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association seminar visited the hotel. He noted that programmes aimed at attracting tourists to Ghana are culture biased and too tilted towards African-Americans. The proprietor said the well-known tourist centres in North, East and South Africa are losing a lot of patrons because they have become security risks and “Ghana must take advantage of this and draw them here”. “The crime rate here is very low, movement of people is not restricted in anyway, the people are friendly, the beaches are fantastic and there is sunshine all year round. This is what tourists from Europe are looking for”.
