The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has strongly refuted recent online accusations aimed at Sector Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie, describing the claims as “gravely misleading” and “wholly unfounded.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 5, 2024, and sighted by Daily Post, the Ministry condemned what it called a “false narrative” that portrayed the Minister as disrespectful and unprofessional in her dealings with stakeholders. It insisted the allegations were a calculated attempt to distort public perception.
“The regrettable attempt to tarnish this reputation undermines not only the Minister but also the hard work of the entire Ministry and all who serve the creative sector with pride,” the statement read.
The Ministry highlighted Madam Gomashie’s track record of humility and dedication, stating that her engagements with industry players and the public have always been rooted in mutual respect and transparency. It warned against what it described as the growing culture of “sensationalism over truth,” where some individuals weaponise social media to gain attention at the expense of public trust.
In a call for accountability, the Ministry’s Director demanded an unqualified apology from the person responsible for the allegations, arguing that such defamatory content maligns not only the Minister’s integrity but also the broader efforts of Ghana’s cultural and creative industry professionals.
While affirming its openness to constructive criticism, the Ministry said it would not tolerate misinformation that seeks to “divide and distract.”
As it continues its mandate to promote Ghana’s cultural identity and creative legacy, the Ministry called on the public to support its mission and stand firm against misinformation targeting public institutions and their leadership.
