Within a span of eight months, the tireless Honorary consul of Ghana in Turin Dr. De Fazio Salvatore has yet again organised another successful business seminar in the northern Italian city of Turin.The first capital of Italy and it’s also the industrial capital and the backbone of the Italian economy.The forum was organised on the 23 of May 2014 at the plush auditorium of the Unicredit Bank in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre(GIPC),Torino Chamber of Commerce and the City of Torino.
The well attended august assembly included over 200 potential investors, individual entrepreneurs, company representatives and high profile personalities including Giovanni Pischedda (Turin chamber of Commerce member responsible for foreign affairs),and the city Mayor Pierro Fassino.
In his opening remarks the city Mayor thanked the organiser the Honorary Consol Dr. De Fazio Salvatore for the great work done. He stated that there was the need to strengthen the Ghana-Italy economic relationship.
“I know Italy is not like great as china in the African market but we are making great effort to reach our goal in the African economy” he said. He also indicated that there are plans to organise exchange university programmes between Ghana and the city of Turin.
Dr. De Fazio Salvatore in his remarks promise to work harder to to strengthen the economic tires between the two countries and thanked the Ghana ambassador to Her Excellency Mrs. Evelyn Anita Stokes-Hayford and Simone Attieku (Political and Economic Affair at the Ghana Embassy in Rome) for taken time off their tight schedule to attend the seminar.
Her Excellency Mrs. Evelyn Anita Stokes-Hayford lamented on how Italians have helped build to Ghana economy since the days of Ghana’s first president Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah even in helping build the Akosombo dam and training of some Ghanaian pilots and the good rapport existing between the two countries. She also encouraged Italian investors to take advantage the serene political atmosphere in Ghana and come and invest in their numbers and disclosed how Italians are making a momentous impact on Ghana’s economic growth
Soon was the turn of Simon Attieku .If Mrs. Mawuena Trebarh( CEO GIPC) was impressive some months ago in the same city at the same programme her compatriot was equally up to the task. The main speaker of the event, Simon Attieku thanked God for adding another natural mineral resource( oil) to our already existing numerous ones. He took participants and potential investors through a graphic description on trade and investment in Ghana in various sectors including Oil and Gas services, Energy, Infrastructure, Agriculture and Agro- Processing, Manufacturing, Tourism, ICT and Financial Services . He told participant the political stability in Ghana and how the rule of law is practised. He also pointed out how Ghana practise the open-market and for that matter investors will have the opportunity to target the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS) market . He also reminded participants the symbiotic relationship between Ghana and Italy in soccer and how Roberto Baggio missed a penalty at the US ‘94 world cup final between Brazil, and Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan also missing a penalty in the quarterfinals of South Africa 2010 world cup.
At the end of his imposing presentation we were all convince that we have to come to Ghana and invest.
