TOR assures public of enough fuel stock

Tema, Nov. 09, GNA — The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has assured the public of enough petroleum products in stock so there is no cause for alarm.

In a telephone interview with Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong, Managing Director of TOR said the workers are working around the clock to meet the daily national demand of 2.2 million litres.

Reports have it that some fuel filling stations have begun hoarding the commodity in anticipation of increase in fuel price as the national budget would be read in Parliament on Thursday. Dr. Kodua allayed the fears of the public because the mechanism for determining the price of fuel is controlled by the National Petroleum Authority and not by the government.

However, contrary to reports of fuel shortage in parts of the country, Tema and Ashaiman are not experiencing the problem because a visit to some of the filling stations showed that they were all operating to capacity and there were no queues.
