A woman stripped naked to protest a demolition of a fuel station at Mile 7 in Accra belonging to the Ayawaso East MP Naser Mahama Toure.

The middle-aged woman was joined by 10 able-bodied men to mount a fierce resistance of the demolition exercise being carried out by the Ga West Municipal Assembly Monday morning.

The race for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary seat in the Suame Constituency is almost degenerating into fisticuffs between Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu and his closest rival, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi, the Republic Newspaper can report.

Days to the Parliamentary Primaries, this paper has picked up reports that the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo has allegedly dispatched his aides to the Suame Constituency (one of the NPP’s biggest political strongholds) to displace the incumbent Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu in favor of Boateng Genfi.

US Court throws out case against Ghana

The Court of Appeal of the United States of America has thrown out an appeal brought by a US company against the Government of Ghana which challenged the dismissal of a $425-million suit against the state.

Ghana, on December 31, 2013, won a landmark case in a US court in which the company, Tjgem LLC, had sued the country for punitive damages totalling $425 million.

Fallen MPs: Dr. Anane, Isaac Osei out of Parliament

According to provisional results available to Joy News, the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaso constituency Dr. Richard Anane would not return to Parliament in 2017 after losing in the NPP’s primary.

The former Minister of Health lost to former Ashanti Regional Organiser Kennedy Kankam. Dr. Anane obtained 110 votes while Mr. Kankam had 247. Kweku Appiah Menkah polled 80, and Stephen Amoah 164 votes.
