Top NPP official wishes Mahama runs for president in 2020

The incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) has joined in the debate over whether or not the former president, John Dramani Mahama contests the 2020 elections.

Since the gaping defeat of Mahama and the NDC in the recently held December 2016 elections, some party bigwigs of the National Democratic Party (NDC) seems to have locked horns on whether or not the party gives Mahama a fresh chance to start all over again as the possible flagbearer of the party.

But the motive behind the wishes of these NDC faithful never coincide with that of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a leading member and council of the party, Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffuor has hinted that Mahama coming back in 2020 will mean a massive victory for Nana Addo’s government.

According to Dr. Tuffuor, the opposition NDC is currently facing controversial issues bothering on the due diligence and misappropriation of election funds by some NDC members. These issues and more, do Dr. Tuffuor posit on why a Nana Addo versus Mahama showdown occurs.

So far, the fate of John Mahama, regarding the 2020 elections remains unknown as checks by YEN.com.gh reveal that the wounded NDC party will be considering forming an emergency congress to help chart the current and future possibilities of the party.
