Top 7 media programmes & platforms influencing 2016 polls

With the November polls just around the corner, a research firm has been finding out the most riveting media platforms which could influence the voting choices of Ghanaians.

In the survey by Goodman AMC, respondents were asked to mention media news sources, including online news portals they trust could offer them first-hand and reliable information in November’s presidential election.

Overall, 1,216 views were sampled from potential voters. For television, the most trusted news source the respondents mentioned without prompting was Joy TV’s news analysis programme, News File.

About 47% percent of the respondents feel they could rely on this programme for accurate, impartial and independent information.

GHOne TV programme, State of Affairs, came second with 13% of the respondents considering them as a viable news source during the period.

TV3’s News 360 programme won the third position with 12% of the respondents identifying them as a credible news source.

For radio, Citi FM’s breakfast show romped home with the first position as 30% of the respondents trust them to offer reliable information during the period. Joy FM’s News File programme also came second with 27% of respondents going in their favour. Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” programme came third with 21%.

Regarding the online portals, 30% of the respondents say they could rely on myjoyonline.com for accurate information during the electioneering period, with citifmonline.com and peacefmonline.com chalking the second and third positions respectively.
