Tony Aidoo Rocks NDC

Dr. Joseph Tony Aidoo, the Director in charge of Policy Analysis and Evaluation at the Office of the President and former Deputy Minister of Defence, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party of not properly taking care of its youth in the country.

The assertive and outspoken politician was of the view that modern party politics requires that the enlightened youth are given decent jobs in the party and be made the backbone of the party since those at the helm of affairs of the party would soon retire.

“We as a party have not been treating our youth well at all, that is why most of them do not show commitment to the cause of the party” he said, adding that it was time our youth were made to hold the base of the party”.

Dr. Tony Aidoo expressed this sentiment when he was speaking on Radio Gold “Alhaji-Alhaji programme series on Radio Gold, an Accra-based radio station last Saturday. The former Deputy Defence Minister questioned the ability of some of the high personalities in the NDC to provide exemplary leadership to Ghanaians, particularly the youth who gave them the nod for a four year term.

Dr. Tony Aidoo cited an example of the frustration some of the youth he was personally asked to look after by some high personalities in the NDC to be placed in job markets which later turned out to be false.

According to him, after he presented the youth to the party stalwarts to be employed, it was then he realized that they wanted to discredit his political credentials because according to Mr. Tony Aidoo he felt ridicule by the actions of the party gurus.

He indicated that the fate of the nation was hanging in the balance and consequently needed immediate measures to arrest the situation. This, according to Dr. Tony Aidoo could only be done if members within the ranks of the NDC put a stop to the backbiting, lies and treachery that had permeated the party and government in recent times.

“We survived the malice of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, but can we survive the treachery of our own”. Dr. Tony Aidoo asked. He indicated that the youth in this country needed to be encouraged and motivated to fight for the cause of the party.

He observed that when it comes to elections, most of these youth are recruited as party agents to man polling stations on behalf of the party but soon after the elections, they are completely forgotten. “She need to encourage and motivate the youth to show greater commitment to the party, since they are the ones who will be taking over from us” he noted.

Finally, Dr. Tony Aidoo has warned leadership of the NDC not to create factions among its rank and file if they really want to win political power in 2012.
