Tollbooth operators fleecing gov’t with outdated tickets

Starr News has uncovered a dubious trend in which some tollbooth attendants are using to fleece the state.

Information gathered indicates that the tollbooth attendants issue outdated tickets to unsuspecting road users and pocket the money.

Some of these tickets, according to our checks, date as far back as 2012.

The outdated tickets are not only generated by the manually operated toll collection points, but also the automated ones as well.

A whistleblower who gave his name only as Dominic, told Starr News that proceeds from the expired tickets are being diverted into private accounts.

According to Dominic, he was given a 2012 ticket at the automated booth on the Tema-Accra Motorway. He added that he was also given a 30th January ticket instead of 31st January at the manually operated booth at Prampram on his way back from the Volta region.
